Welcome to JacksonFabricArts, your online source for hand dyed organic fabrics and sustainable textiles by the yard and bundle -- hemp, organic cottons and silks.

I am in the process of moving my product line to all organics and sustainable hemp fabrics. Currently, you will find a small offering of hemp, organic cotton, and silk in my Etsy store.

After doing a lot of research about how conventional cotton is grown and processed for the marketplace, I have decided I will reduce my conventional cotton inventory and research viable, sustainable alternatives that serve the Earth and my customers more responsibly.

I have found some wonderful substitutes in hemp fabrics and organic cotton and hemp blends. I stock several weights of an organic cotton hemp blend, a 100% hemp linen, and a hemp and silk blend. They all dye up beautifully. They also have the added advantage of being ideal for hand sewing. They needle easily and are very durable too. If you like flax linen, you'll love hemp linen and cotton and hemp blends. The silk hemp blend is a wonderful fabric also -- with a soft luster and drape, but with a heavier weight.

In my textile studio, I am constantly experimenting and creating new recipes for dye colors. To create my recipes, I blend proportions of primary colors of dye to create secondary colors that are unique and beautiful. I rarely use a premixed dye.

Dyeing is 10% art and 90% chemistry. If you don't understand the chemistry of dyeing, your fabric will not bond with your dye, and you will waste energy, chemicals, and dye. I work hard and long hours to dye fabric that is high quality and colorfast. Anyone who sells fabric that may still bleed should not be selling hand dyed cloth.

I ship all over the world, but cannot offer a money-back guarantee for packages sent outside of the U.S. that get lost of damaged. Thanks for reading and please contact me at sljack@jacksonfabricarts.com with your comments and questions.
